    Status of Contract Negotiations

At the bargaining table, NVAC works hard to protect and expand your rights under the Master Agreement. Our contract is the federal government's largest and strongest collective bargaining agreement. Thus far, we’ve completed 10 weeks of bargaining and discussed six contract articles. Despite promises that the Biden/Harris Administration would be the most pro-worker government in history, Secretary McDonough’s VA negotiating team is fighting us every step of the way. Where NVAC seeks to make employee awards programs fairer and more transparent, VA wants to maintain “maximum management discretion” for supervisors. Where NVAC fights to ensure workers receive training and an opportunity to improve their performance before being fired, VA insists that supervisors treat them fairly and determine whether they can perform the job successfully.

As we enter bargaining session #6 in Washington, DC, NVAC has already filed two national grievances over the VA’s bad faith bargaining and two appeals with the FLRA in response to the VA’s assertions that our contract proposals are “non-negotiable.” We’ll continue to stand up and fight back.
